One of my favorite 21 Day Fix Extreme workouts is Pilates Fix Extreme. This workout is very unique and probably way different than any other workout you’ll ever do.
If you’re not familiar with Pilates, it is a form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates that emphasizes balanced body development through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient and graceful movement. Pilates exercises can be done on either on a mat on the floor (e.g., 21 Day Fix and P90X3) or on special Pilates exercise equipment. Because we don’t have that equipment at home, we get the job done with a resistance band in Pilates Fix Extreme.
Pilates Fix Extreme is super-fun because we use the resistance band, wrapped around our feet, the entire time as you can see in the below video. In some ways this makes the exercises harder but in some ways, it also makes the exercises easier. One technique you can use to maximize your results with Pilates, as demonstrated in the video, is to forcefully exhale and make a “sshhhh” sound. The helps you get maximum contraction deep into your abs.
Pilates Fix Extreme is challenging but is definitely not one of the harder 21 Day Fix Extreme workouts like Lower Fix Extreme or Dirty 30 Extreme, but it’s a fun mid-week recovery workout. The exercises where you are lying down on your stomach are definitely the hardest moves for me because they require a lot of back flexibility. I welcome the challenge though!
