Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a cellular energy nutrient. Without CoQ10, your cells literally cannot function. It is the spark that lights and fuels every single cell in our bodies.
When you say CoQ10, everybody thinks of the heart because the heart has the greatest concentration of CoQ10 in the body. This is important because the heart is constantly working and constantly running.
People who have asthma, allergies, fatigue, respiratory disorders, and periodontal disease are likely to have CoQ10 deficiency. Additionally when you hit about 30-35 years of age, your CoQ10 level starts to drop. At this point, the cellular energy starts to go down, and this is when you need to be taking CoQ10.
What is more, certain prescription drugs deplete the body of CoQ10. These are statins (cholesterol lowerers), oral hypoglycemics (diabetes meds), SSRIs (antidepressants), and betablockers (blood pressure drugs). If you are taking any of these medicines, make sure you supplement your body with CoQ10 because it is very well-known that these drugs rob the body of it.
